We stick with clients should they fall on hard times and work with them through tough times helping them get back on track…John Wishart Vice President and Commercial Real Estate Officer, South Main Street
John was born and raised in Crafton, PA. He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with a bachelor’s degree in economics and received banking degrees in Public Finance from Michigan University and Investment Banking from the University of Illinois. Prior to working at Washington Financial, John served in the US Army and held positions at National City Bank in Cleveland, Ohio and Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh.
In Washington County, John serves on the Salvation Army’s Advisory Board, where, among other duties, he helps raise funds for the Corps local needs. He is also an active member of his church, where he assists in managing the Endowment Fund and is chairman for their Scholarship Fund Program. In his spare time, John enjoys golfing, fishing with his sons, and spending leisure time in Ohio’s Lake Erie Islands.
Over the past 16 years, John has enjoyed working at Washington Financial because of the Bank’s community-oriented approach to business. He believes that other institutions may not be as willing to work with small or mid-sized businesses, but Washington Financial has always been willing and able to work with them. Unlike institutions that may just go through the motions, John said that he enjoys forming long-term relationships with his customers. “We’ve been very consistent over the years in how we care for our clients," he said. “We stick with clients should they fall on hard times and work with them through tough times helping them get back on track, which is not something we regularly see from our competitors."
Washington County is home to 22 of Pennsylvania's 210 covered bridges.
